Overview

The course aims for the programme participants to build on their existing understanding of management and organisations within a framework that enables them to relate their experience to contemporary ideas and practices within a global context.

Learning Path

The central aim of the Business Transformation Project is to provide an opportunity for students to research an intervention that a chosen organisation could harness to enhance organisational performance. The project should develop a transformation document for the organisation, critically evaluate the organisational benefits and discuss the various challenges that might be presented. Programme participants will build on their existing understanding of management and organisations within a framework that enables them to relate their experience to contemporary ideas and practices within a global context. This is achieved through critical thinking, creativity, and personal development. The module is supported by a range of ‘mini modules’ based around the key thematic areas of the research process.

Topic selection involves choosing a specific area or domain in which a transformation project will be undertaken. This could be a particular business process, a technology system, or a customer experience. The choice of topic should align with the organization’s overall business objectives and address a specific pain point or challenge. It’s important to ensure that the necessary resources, including data, technology, and human resources, are available to execute the project successfully.

It involves identifying and defining the problems or challenges that the project aims to solve. Project teams can use several problem identification techniques to ensure that the project addresses the root causes of the problem and achieves its objectives.

Engaging stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle helps to ensure that their needs, expectations, and concerns are addressed and that their input is taken into account.

When developing a project, it’s important to appraise technology to ensure that the right tools are selected for the task at hand.

Research ethics is a crucial aspect of any research project, and proposals play a critical role in ensuring that research is conducted ethically. A research proposal is a document that outlines the objectives, methods, and anticipated outcomes of a research project. It is used to convince reviewers or funding agencies that the proposed research is valuable, feasible, and ethical. There are several ethical considerations that researchers must take into account when developing a research proposal.

Reviewing academic and professional literature is an essential skill for any researcher. It involves identifying, analyzing, and synthesizing existing research related to a specific topic or research question.

Research methodology is the process of planning, conducting, and analyzing research. Research methodology has three main components: philosophy, approaches, and designs.

Project research methods are the specific techniques and tools used to collect and analyze data in a research project. Several methods can be used in project research.

Data analysis is the process of transforming raw data into meaningful insights and conclusions. Several data analysis techniques and software can be used, depending on the type of data and research question.

Presenting findings in a project is a critical step in the research process that involves communicating the results of the study to stakeholders.

When presenting conclusions and recommendations in a project, it is important to follow a logical and clear structure to ensure that the audience understands the main outcomes and implications of the study.
